Certification Pathways Information

PHLEBOTOMY

Description: The objective of this program is to prepare students who need a GED to enter the HealthCare Industry as a certified Phlebotomist. The program enables students to complete: a contextualized Healthcare GED program, a career exploration/career skills development class, and the Phlebotomy training (and support classes) which will prepare students to take the national certification exam.

Time Frame: Students should expect to complete the program within 16 weeks.

Start Date: August 6, 2012

End Date: November 16, 2012

Program requirements: The registration process includes completing/submitting the following:

• student program application • high school transcripts • drug screen results • immunization records

• current negative TB test • Hepatitis B vaccinations • tetanus shot

Student Total Cost: The only costs incurred by the student are the charges to receive the vaccines.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Description: The objective of this program is to prepare students who need a GED to enter the Healthcare Industry as a certified Emergency Medical Technician. The program enables students to complete: a contextualized Healthcare GED program, a career exploration class/career skills development class, and the Emergency Medical Technician training (and support classes) which will prepare students to take the national certification exam.

Time Frame: Students should expect to complete the program within 20 weeks.

Start Date: August 6, 2012

End Date: December 14, 2012

Program requirements: The registration process includes completing/submitting the following:

• student program application • high school transcripts • drug screen results • immunization records

• current negative TB test • Hepatitis B vaccinations • tetanus shot • MMR #1 & 2 • Background check

Student Total Cost: The only cost incurred by the student are the charges to receive the vaccines and for the uniforms (uniforms cost to be determined at a later date)
