Do I have to apply for graduation?
Yes, you must apply for graduation in order to receive a diploma.
When is the deadline to apply for graduation?
The designated deadline varies by semester; however, notices are posted campus-wide, through the Mustang E-Blast and via specific email reminders each term. If you miss the deadline to apply for graduation, you will have to wait to apply for graduation the next semester.
Is there anything special that I have to do if I’m taking a course somewhere else in my last semester?
Yes, you will need to advise your instructor(s) that you are planning to graduate and follow up on getting your grade turned in by the required due date in order to ensure that all necessary grade information is available for Admissions and Records to certify you as a graduate. Please contact the Office of Admission and Records for specific date information.
What if I fail a course or get an incomplete in my final semester?
If you believe you have an incomplete or incorrect grade, please discuss it with the instructor. Mistakes happen and it is possible that your instructor could have computed your grade incorrectly. If a failing grade is received in a course you need to graduate and the grade is accurate, you will need to enroll in suitable course work in a subsequent semester and re-apply for graduation in that semester.
How much does it cost to graduate?
There is no fee to graduate but you have to order and pay for your cap and gown if you plan to attend the ceremony.
Do I have to attend commencement?
No, but you still have to apply for graduation and meet all graduation requirements. A word of caution: you may not wish to participate in commencement but your family may have other ideas. Even if you think you are not going to attend, we advise you to order a cap and gown.
How many guests may I bring to commencement?
The number of guests allowed varies, depending on the number of graduating students per semester. Tickets are issued each semester by The Career Services Office.
If my family cannot attend commencement, how can they see me graduate?
The graduation ceremony will be available on the TSTC Website through a live streaming feed. Also, a few weeks after the ceremony, a DVD copy will be mailed to you.
What is on my diploma? When will I receive it?
Diplomas show your name as indicated on your application for graduation, the program title and the date of graduation. Diplomas are issued at the commencement ceremony unless you specified otherwise or applied late.
Now I’ve graduated, now what?
