TSTC Harlingen Stands Ready to Assist Colleagues and their Families in Waco
April 18, 2013
First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with the TSTC Waco and West communities. We have colleagues and students that have been affected by the explosion at the industrial facility in West. The TSTC System Office and one of the four TSTC colleges are located in Waco.
TSTC Waco is serving as part of the Incident Command System for this event and the staff under Dr. Elton Stuckley, the TSTC Waco president, is supporting the coordinated response led by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Our college in Waco is serving as an evacuation center and is providing temporary housing as needed.
We have had no reports of any building damage at the College. However, due to the severity of the explosion, damage to the TSTC Waco utility infrastructure network is possible and is still under evaluation. TSTC Harlingen personnel have been placed on standby to respond to any support requested by the TSTC System.
Updated information will be provided as it becomes available.
