New Student Enrollment Checklist
As a new or transfer student, there are a number of things for you to have organized in order to successfully submit your application for admission to TSTC. If at any point in the process you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Please allow 1-2 weeks for your acceptance letter to be mailed to you. Once received you will receive instructions on how to access your TSTC account online. For more information on your application status, contact the Admissions Office at 956.364.4117
2. Submit Official Transcript(s) (HS, College or GED)
Submit official college transcripts for any college coursework previously taken, if applicable. You may bring in the official transcripts or have the previous college send it by mail. No faxed or emailed transcripts will be accepted. Must come in a sealed envelope and is to be submitted to the Admissions Office. (see additional steps below)
3. Provide proof of Meningitis vaccination (for students under age 22)
Proof of meningitis needs to be submitted to the Admissions Office.
4. Complete Applicable TSI Requirements
Provide TSI scores, Exemptions or Waivers to Testing & Advisement Office Room 312
5. Complete Financial Obligation Agreement
*Log into webAdvisor.tstc.edu and on the left hand side under Financial Information click "Student Financial Obligation Agreement". Once you are in, all you need to do is check off "I agree" and then submit.
6. Apply for Financial Aid (if applicable)
Apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov. TSTC code: 009225
7. Register for & attend New Student Orientation (NSO)
For assistance to register for NSO, contact 956.364.4117
8. Register for Classes (with program advisor)
2015 Summer/Fall Early Registration begins March 30
Additional Steps (if applicable):
If you are claiming Texas residency for tuition purposes, additional documentation may be needed that shows you have resided in the state for 12 months prior to registration.
Academic Transcripts: Submit official high school transcript or GED certificate and all official college transcripts, if applicable, to the Admissions & Records Office. Financial Aid cannot be processed for students whose files lack official transcripts.
Campus Housing: If you are required to live on campus or you are interested in single student or family housing, forward the completed Housing Application along with required deposit or contact the Housing Office for an application.
Support Services: The Support Services Office reflects TSTC Harlingen's commitment to meeting the special needs of individual students. This office coordinates with community assistance programs and serves as a resource for the Special Population Community of students which is defined as: Qualified Single Parents, Displaced Homemakers, Single expectant Mothers, Students Pursuing a Non-Traditional Program of Study and Qualified Disabled Students.
All new students are assigned to a Recruitment Specialist. The Recruitment Specialist will assist students with the completion of the admissions process. If you do not know your Recruitment Specialist, call 956/364-4101.
