Texas State Technical College and ITD Precision were each presented with awards by the Texas Workforce Commission on Thursday Jan. 17 at the University Center on the TSTC Harlingen campus.
ITD Precision received the Employer Award of Excellence and TSTC received the TWC Partnership award.
ITD Precision vice-president of operations Scott Hays was on hand to receive the employer award.
“It means a lot to us,” Hays said. “TSTC and the Texas Workforce Commission have always been great supporters of ours since 1994. We couldn’t accomplish any of this without good employees and TSTC has always been a great partner in the way they prepare their students and get them ready for the workforce.”
TSTC was recognized for its longstanding relationship with TWC. TSTC received over $1 million in grants from TWC to train local workforce last year.
TSTC president Cesar Maldonado received the award on behalf of the college but diverted all credit to the TSTC team for the honor.
“This is the era of convergence,” Maldonado said. “I see the workforce setting the pace for success for the whole region and bringing opportunity for the private sector to invest money because they believe in the region.”
Maldonado added: “We didn’t do this by ourselves. That’s what this award means to me and TSTC. It represents the teamwork of everyone here.”
