Texas State Technical College President Dr. Cesar Maldonado presented United Launch Alliance Site Leader Tim Piller with The President's Challenge Coin on Monday, Dec. 3, at ULA in appreciation of Piller's longstanding relationship and support of TSTC.
ULA has been a strong supporter of TSTC and its students for 25 years. Not only does ULA employ many TSTC graduates, the aerospace company consistently makes monetary donations to the college. Most recently, ULA donated $10,000 at the Noche De Gala scholarship fundraiser.
"We've had a long and strong relationship with TSTC," Piller said. "For Dr. Maldonado to present us with this coin just puts a nice bowtie on all the work we've done together. This is an indication of our strong relationship and I hope it lasts 25 more years."
The TSTC Harlingen President's Challenge Coin was commissioned by Dr. Maldonado in 2010 as a means of bestowing special recognition to students, staff, faculty and others for their contribution to the college. The president awards the TSTC Harlingen President's Challenge Coin to recognize extraordinary effort and performance in the areas of leadership, innovation, excellence, and integrity. To date, only a half dozen of the coveted coins have been awarded.
"This coin is presented to individuals who have made a difference to our college and contributed to achieving our goals and to the success of our students," Maldonado said.
