The Surgical Technology department supports the mission of the College and the Instructional Division by providing and maintaining an efficient, high quality Associate Degree technical education program. The goal of this program is to provide with opportunity to gain employment as an entry level surgical technologists and become a contributing member of the health care team. This will be accomplished by (1) preparing competent entry level surgical technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains, and (2) meeting or exceeding the criteria set forth in the current CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational programs in Surgical Technology.

Process for Receiving Information and Filing Complaints:
The Surgical Technology Department commits to provide an open and fair resolution process for student complaints. Student complaints will be documented and brought to the attention of the program chairman of the Surgical Technology Department. If further assistance is needed to resolve the student complaint , the complaint will be forwarded to the Texas State Technical College Customer Relations Representative. Student complaints will be reviewed and resolved in a timely manner.
The Surgical Technology Department strives to produce highly skilled entry level technologists to the Surgical Technology industry therefore the department is open to any suggestions to improve the quality of instruction at Texas State Technical College.
