Advanced Placement & International Baccalaureate

Students may earn credit for academic courses through testing through Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB).

These are classes offered by high schools.  At the end of the class students take the AP or IB examination.  If the scores show satisfactory achievement for a subject then credit for the course is awarded by the college. For a listing of courses for which TSTC gives credit through AP and IB, see the catalog below.

The Advanced Placement (AP) program is a curriculum in the United States sponsored by the College Board which offers standardized courses to high school students that are generally recognized to be equivalent to undergraduate courses in college. Participating colleges grant credit to students who obtained high enough scores on the exams to qualify.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation that is focused on the student and offering high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools.   According to the IB, it “aims to create and provide access opportunities so that more students are able to benefit from a high quality, international educational experience and give students the motional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.”
