Roles & Responsibilities:

As a graduate of the Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) program, you can look forward to numerous outstanding career opportunities with responsibilities that include machining precision components for production, creating prototypes and operating conventional or computer-controlled machines. Graduates of the (CAM) program hold titles such as machinist, machine tool operator, precision machinist, CNC machinist or CNC operator.

Employers want technicians who can:

  • Communicate effectively;
  • Continue to build skills and knowledge;
  • Efficiently operate precision machine tools;
  • Read and understand manufacturing drawings; and
  • Demonstrate an understanding of various types of engineering material.

The Technical Advantage:

While at TSTC Marshall, (CAM) students use many types of equipment and software to gain the competitive edge. These include:

  • Lathes and milling machines;
  • Surface grinders;
  • Computer-Aided Manufacturing software;
  • CNC machining centers;
  • CNC turning centers; and more.

Professional Associations:

(CAM) students are exposed to established professionals through the program's industry partners and advisory committees. Professional organizations such as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Precision Machined Products Association and the National Tooling and Machining Association offer additional networking opportunities.
