As a veteran of the armed services, you already know the value of technical experience and you understand that knowledge is power - power to adapt to changes - power to succeed.
If you are the veteran, include a copy of your DD-214 or DD-2384, whichever applies.
Dependents must provide a copy of their birth certificate or marriage license. These documents must accompany the VA application package. Return to Admissions and Records for mailing to the Veteran Affairs Office in Muskogee, OK.
You must request an official transcript from any previously attended post secondary schools.
Please be aware that you are responsible for the payment of your courses. Your GI Bill benefits are paid after your first month of school attendance. This is contingent upon the time frame of the completion of your certification.
It is very important that you enroll in courses that are part of your chosen degree plan. The Admissions and Records office is only authorized to approve and certify courses that apply to your current degree plan.
In order to receive payment: Chapter 30 and Chapter 1606 veterans must complete enrollment verification each month on or after the last day of the month in order to receive payment for that month. Your enrollment verification can be verified on the VA website (WAVE)
Veterans Retraining Assistance Program.
Congress passed, and the President has signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed Veterans.
The VRAP offers 12 months of training assistance to Veterans who:
The program is limited to 45,000 participants from July 1, 2012, through September 30, 2012, and 54,000 participants from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2014. Participants may receive up to 12 months of assistance equal to the monthly full-time payment rate under the Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty program (currently $1,473 per month). DOL will offer employment assistance to every Veteran who participates upon completion of the program.
Participants must be enrolled in a VA approved program of education offered by a community college or technical school. The program must lead to an Associate Degree, Non-College Degree, or a Certificate, and train the Veteran for a high demand occupation.
