The Department of Biology offers courses needed for the Associate of Science in Biology degree as well as the Academic Core (basic courses transferable to any 4-year institution in Texas) and prerequisite coursework for various Allied Health Technologies. With an Associate of Science in Biology degree you’ll be able to pursue a bachelor’s in biology or take a medical school path.
This is a good degree path to take if you are interested in biology, but don't yet know if you want to work toward a bachelor's degree in Biology or take the medical school path. If you decide to go to work after earning an Associate of Science degree in Biology, there are many interesting and exciting positions for which you would be qualified. You might find a position as a lab technician working under the supervision of a biologist or a veterinarian, or as a salesperson for scientific or medical equipment. This degree could also serve as an introduction to a medical field, such as medical assisting.
