Thank you for your interest in the Mechatronics Technology program at Texas State Technical College Harlingen. As a student at TSTC Harlingen, you will be awarded endless opportunities to fulfill your educational goals. TSTC students enjoy a hands-on learning environment that promotes continued educational growth.
TSTC is constantly evolving and providing programs to compete with the specialized fields of the working world. TSTC Harlingen offers Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Mechatronics. Graduates of the program can have career opportunities that offer a sense of responsibility, personal growth, achievement and financial reward.
Mechatronics is centered on the disciplines of mechanics, electronics, controls and computers which, combined, make possible the generation of simpler, more economical, reliable and versatile commercial and industrial products.
Laboratory projects will povide you with experience in the use of electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, as well as electrical measurement devices. The class sizes are ideal for one-on-one instruction involving planning, assembly, programming, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. The faculty brings its industry-based experience into the classrooms and laboratories to enhance your skills with communications and help you build a high degree of confidence.
As a student, you will assist with the design and construction of systems featuring robots, electrical motor controls, hydraulic and pneumatic controls, computer-based control systems based on Rockwell Automation Programmable Logic Controllers, the Parallax Basic Stamp and other microcontrollers.
There is a high demand for bilingual engineers and technicians with Mechatronics knowledge and experience in companies in the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding regions including Laredo, Houston, and San Antonio, and in industrial “Maquiladoras” on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.
Career opportunities within the program vary between options and I encourage you to visit the program and find out which choice is right for you.
