Computer Networking & Security Technology

Thank you for your interest in the Computer Networking & Security Technology program at Texas State Technical College Harlingen. As a student at TSTC Harlingen, you will be awarded endless opportunities to fulfill your educational goals. TSTC students enjoy a hands-on learning environment that promotes continued educational growth.

TSTC is constantly evolving and providing programs to compete with the specialized fields of the working world. TSTC Harlingen offers Certificates of Completion in Computer Networking & Security. In addition, the program offers Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Computer Network Specialist. Graduates of the program can have career opportunities that offer a sense of responsibility, personal growth, achievement and financial reward.

As a student in Computer Networking and Security Technology you’ll become immersed in rapidly advancing computer-related technologies. Our faculty work with you to install and troubleshoot computer systems, train others to use software, research equipment purchases, network computer units, secure computer networks and manage Internet applications. Reach beyond textbooks and lectures and roll up your sleeves for hands-on training with equipment – PCs, servers, hubs, routers, switches, cabling racks, and more – commonly used in the modern business world.

Students in this program develop a broad perspective of interactive communication processes. Besides understanding and working with small, intricate elements within a computer network, you will gain practical experience in linking multiple information systems.

The students learn teamwork techniques necessary to combine their talents and skills in critical-level thinking exercises en route to developing problem-solving answers. The CNST program has gained widespread recognition for its first-rate graduates and the projects faculty initiate with private enterprise. Grants from government and business sources have helped supply our laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment that continually undergoes updates whenever there are technological advances.

Career opportunities within the program vary between options and I encourage you to visit the program and find out which choice is right for you. TSTC can provide you with the knowledge to achieve your goals.
