Student Online Learning Orientation (SOLO 0100)

The goal of the Texas State Technical College (TSTC) Student Online Learning Orientation is to increase your awareness, readiness and self-confidence in taking online learning courses. You are required to take and complete the Student Online Learning Orientation (SOLO) if you:

  • Have not taken and passed a TSTC online course in the past two years (with a C or better)*
  • Have not taken and passed the SOLO

To enroll in the SOLO, visit WebAdvisor and register for the SOLO 0100 course.

Once registered, the SOLO can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. It is located on Moodle, TSTC’s learning management system, and can be accessed by clicking on the following link: If you are registered, it will show up as one of your courses. The orientation will provide you an introduction to online learning, provide you tips for success in online courses, and address technical requirements that you will encounter in TSTC online courses.

The following are requirements for successful completion of the orientation:

  • On average, four hours to complete orientation modules (dependent on your familiarity with technology and learning management systems). The course does not have to be completed in one “sitting.”
  • Completion of all orientation assignments and a final average of 80 percent or better Successful completion of the course requirements will enable you to register for online courses provided that you meet course pre-requisites.
