Auto tech rose to co-owner position
It’s fair to say that Wilson Medina, co-owner of Ronnie Smith Transmission in Abilene, knows motor vehicles inside out.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering before joining the U.S. Navy and then received a Certificate of Completion in Automotive Technology at TSTC West Texas after his military service. So, he has worked on designing and repairing automobiles and trucks.
“TSTC students have the necessary tools and equipment, vehicles to work on, and instructors willing to go the extra mile,” Medina said. “If a student wants to learn at TSTC, he or she will learn.”
He recalled some wisdom from one of his instructors, James Butler: “It is high tech and complicated because you don’t understand it. Sit down and study and you will find out that it is simple and everything in life is basic.”
