Drug counselor helped found scholarships
Chemical dependency counselor Rebecca Rusche absorbed career values and helped found a scholarship fund before she graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in 2006.
“The behaviors, attitudes and professionalism that the faculty and staff at TSTC modeled on a daily basis are something I have carried with me everywhere I go,” she said.
“The curriculum was one of the key points that allowed me to pass the state board written exam with relative ease as well as prepare me for many different types of counseling modalities and specialized groups within the counseling field.”
As one of the first students in the Chemical Dependency Counselor Program, she and two peers began a club that established a student scholarship fund for future students. Today, the club awards six scholarships per semester.
“All you need is a vision, some hope and a little elbow grease. You never know what might come out of it,” she said.
