Wonder woman became TSTC hero
Her friends still call her “Wonder Woman.” Most students and employees knew Belinda Palomino as president of the Student Government Association and Ms. TSTC 2009. She fit all three titles and she transferred 53 credits of the Academic Core package to the University of Texas-Pan American for fall semester 2010.
She testified at the Texas Capitol about House Bill 1325, legislation that created Associate of Science degrees for TSTC Harlingen. She will always remember the visit to Austin and the benefits of her SGA experiences. She chose to attend TSTC because it was close to home (San Benito) and she felt comfortable on the campus.
“One of the most important things I have learned is, ‘If I try it, I can do it,’” she said.
“I also learned that when someone sees the need for something to get done, they should not wait for someone to tell them what needs to be done. They should take the initiative and go forward.”
