Heart surgery caused career change
Double-bypass heart surgery put Guy David Foster onto a new career path and he continually expands his opportunities.
Training for his first career as a refrigeration technician began at TSTC Waco. Meanwhile, his curiosity about technology turned into an extensive hobby of buying and tinkering with computers. Doctors suggested that he take disability retirement at age 44 after the operation, but when his church sought someone to operate its computer software Foster decided to continue his education at TSTC and take on the job.
He graduated in spring 2009 with a Student Leadership Award, Phi Theta Kappa honors and the President’s Award of Highest Honor. And, he increased his knowledge and skills to facilitate the production of television shows and promotional videos.
“If I had questions, the instructors assisted me with finding answers. If my health got in the way of assignments, they would give me time and help to get the work done,” Foster said.
