Computer Drafting & Design Technology major Migdalia Banda is hard at work building her dream house.

She invested well over 200 hours beyond class work during the past year in the computer lab continually improving the three-dimensional. Her motivational drive toward an architectural engineering career and participation in gender equity activities helped earn her the 2010 Inspirational Award sponsored by the Support Services Office at TSTC Harlingen.

The house – named “Aurora,” which means “the dawn” – is a work of art heavily influenced by Roman themes with lavish accommodations for guests and family. Banda has trimmed the floor plan to 14,211 square feet.

“The muses are singing to me. I’m designing Aurora as if I could actually build it, but I don’t know if I’m going to really build this house. It’s the dream that keeps me going,” she said.

Aurora is destined to become unique part of Banda’s portfolio when she seeks employment.
