Arts A/V & Communications Rising StarDegree leads to entrepreneurship

Derek Watson quit a job to attend TSTC and after graduation he re-entered the work force by becoming one of four partners in Wyld Stallyns Games. The Waco-based company plans to launch its first iPhone game in November 2010.

He develops codes for video games to make images move, provides special effects and delves into artificial intelligence. “I benefited from my instructors’ passion for education and the way they enabled me to focus on success. They had a lot of faith in me,” said Watson, who graduated from Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, in 2007.

An employer tried to discourage him from becoming a full-time college student, which led him to quit the job to pursue his dream of creating video games.

“The skills I learned from TSTC are sought by video game companies. So, my TSTC education will continually influence on my career and my future,” he concluded.
