Chef uses TSTC recipe for success
Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef Tina Walker oversees two restaurants – The Loft and Roberto’s – in Abilene, but she always remembers her Culinary Arts classes.
“I benefit every day from the Safety & Sanitation and Purchasing courses because I learned how to order supplies, purchase wisely, and receive, store and serve food safely,” she explained. “There is very little waste and I save the company money.”
Walker credited Chef Natasha Brown and Chef Asha Booker for leading her to achieve career goals. “They installed in students that we should take pride in everything that we do and do it well. That is my motto today.”
Discovering she could excel motivated her to strive for a high grade point average. She added, “I tell employees that there are many occupation choices with a Culinary Arts degree: dietician, nutritionist and chef, just to name a few. I think my education has inspired me to inspire others!”
