Texas State Technical College Waco is among the nations leaders in four categories based on recent data compiled from the National Center of Educational Statistics IPEDS. NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related to education in the U.S. and other nations.

“NCES provides us notoriety outside of the state as well as helping to validate our in-state comparisons with other colleges in Texas,” said TSTC Waco Vice President for Student Learning John Spradling. “These rankings would allow an individual to compare the educational value at TSTC to many other institutions in the United States.”

The data, based on all two-year public colleges nationwide, shows TSTC Waco ranks second nationally in Computer and Information Science, sixth in both Mechanic and Repair Technologies and Transportation “Pilot Training” and eighth in Engineering Technologies.

“We continue to produce highly qualified information technology graduates that are highly sought after throughout Texas industry, in spite of recent economic changes to these industries,” said Spradling. “Since 2000 our information technology students have successfully competed at the national level gaining notoriety from businesses throughout the United States. These successes contribute to the development of new instructional programs, such as Nanotechnology, Fuel Cell technology and Recreational Vehicle Maintenance.”

Texas State Technical College, the only state-supported technical college system in Texas, offers specialized, hands-on instructional courses at campuses in Harlingen, Marshall, Waco and West Texas. TSTC Waco also offers classes at the WCJC Fort Bend Technical Center in Richmond and the Texas State Marine Education Center in Palacios.
