Welcome to Agriculture Technology

Do you dream of managing an agricultural business and want to use leading-edge technology to make the business more productive? Then, consider the AGTECH Program at TSTC West Texas, where students learn how to use technology in agriculture production and a systems approach to solve the real-life problems you'll encounter in agri-business.

In the AGTEC Program students study how problem solving relies on a basic strategy that includes problem identification, collection of information, and evaluating solutions to achieve a goal. Instructors help tackle these concepts using computer software, information technology, and critical-thinking skills. Persuing a certification in AGTECH provides participants with real-world instruction using resources that afford the greatest balance between leading-edge technology and its full productive use.

Throughout the semester, students learn to organize and manage environmentally sound, technology-based agri-businesses. Graduates gain the skills and techniques required to plan and direct industry or business projects in agriculture using technology to produce optimal results.

Career opportunities in the AGTECH industry are state, national, and international in scope.  Graduates may persue careers such as:

  • managing farm, ranch and agribusiness
  • instituting sustainable agriculture practices
  • promoting wildlife management
  • marketing and selling agriculture products
  • assisting with manufacturing and processing operations
  • offering advice and troubleshooting help on technical equipment or projects
  • managing and using all resources involved in an integrated process
  • applying technical training in selling and demonstrating products
  • teaching people about product use and value
