The TSTC West Texas Associate of Applied Science Degree program requires five to six terms (approximately 18 to 21 months) to complete. Upon program completion, you may have a variety of employment options, including: construction contractors or subcontractors, construction-site foremen, supervisors, or superintendents. In addition, you may also find employment in construction-related fields such as a construction materials estimator; building codes inspector; and an occupational safety and health inspector.
Those interested in getting into the business of building construction but are not seeking a degree may want to consider the certificate level of Construction Management. Completion of this program takes approximately one year. The courses required for a certificate are the same as those for the associates degree, minus the management and General Education elements. Many of the graduates choose to go into construction fields such as framing, finish, and other construction trade related professions.
