When it comes to solid careers, one of the best choices you can make is anything connected to computers and information technology. The Computer Network Systems and Administration program is designed to educate, equip and elevate our students to a level above industry standard. In doing so, our graduates provide a relevant impact in the workforce, ensuring longevity and tenure within the networking industry.

Hands-on Approach

As a Computer Network Systems student, you'll begin the program with fundamental courses in computer application and networking, then progress through theory and practical application on computer hardware/software. You'll grow in your knowledge and understanding of computer and networking systems through a hybrid method of online and in-classroom education. You'll study and learn concepts and theoretical application online, then validate your training in a lab setting with an instructor. Some of the skills you'll learn include:

  • Network Infrastructure & Design
  • Network Operating Systems
  • Server Installation
  • Server Administration
  • Troubleshooting
  • IP Routing
  • Policy Administration
  • Security
  • LAN/WAN Administration

Career Opportunities

  • Network Technician
  • Network Administrator
  • Hardware Service Technician
  • Network Programmer/Analyst
  • Wireless Network Technician
  • Computer Support Specialist

Jobs in this industry are growing at a rapid rate, with no signs of slowing down. The market for network technicians is primarily focused in metropolitan areas where larger corporations reside. However, smaller towns and communities offer several employment opportunities at banks, locally owned computer and network stores, hospitals and pharmacies. At TSTC West Texas, you'll learn the skills necessary to succeed in this competitive field.
