New Student Orientation FAQ
Is Orientation Mandatory?
Yes, Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students. Students will learn about TSTC West Texas, classes and so much more. It is an opportunity to explore academics, campus life, and begin developing important relationships with faculty, staff, and students. There are also opportunities to have all of your questions answered.
Where do I go when I arrive on campus?
Orientation sessions are located in different areas on each of the campuses.
Sweetwater Campus - Orientation sessions will be held in the Student Center.
Abilene Campus - Main Building Conference Room.
Breckenridge Campus - Orientation will be held in Room 103.
Brownwood Campus - Orientation will be held in the Open Concept Room located in Building 2. All students MUST register for orientation by contacting 325.641.3911.
What should I wear to Orientation?
Dress comfortably. Plan to wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes for walking around campus.
Who can come to Orientation with me?
Parents/Spouses and children/sibliings are welcome to attend the orientation sessions.
Will I need to buy books at Orientation?
Some students choose to purchase their books during Orientation in order to prepare in advance for courses. However, most students will purchase their books during the first week of classes after instructors hand out course syllabi. Waiting until the first week of classes is recommended, just in case an instructor changes the book requirements.
Do I need to register for classes before attending Orientation?
No, it is not required for a student to register for classes before attending Orientation. Although, students are encouraged to register for classes as soon as possible. Some programs may reach their max capacity early on. The earlier you register, the better the odds of getting the schedule you need or want.
Where can I get a copy of my class schedule?
You will receive a printout of your class schedule when you register. At Orientation, you can access your schedule at any time via WebAdvisor.
How do I transfer college credit?
You may either mail or hand deliver an Official sealed transcript from the college or university you previously attended.
