What the future holds

Shortages of qualified welders abound in the Lone Star State, creating good job prospects for our graduates.  The metropolitan areas of Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth are some of the hottest markets for welders. Opportunities also exist in South Texas and West Texas. Ninety precent of the recent graduates from the TSTC West Texas Welding Program have either been placed in jobs or continued their education at a four-year university.

Job opportunities for skilled welders range in areas from jet engine manufacturering to bridge building. You could be laying cross-country pipelines, doing underwater welding, or fabricating equipment in exotic materials such as titanium or tungsten. As you gain knowledge and experience, you could even move into a supervisor position or run your own crew.
