Considering applying?
“I believe that EVERYONE should experience this leadership development class. You will look at TSTC in a new light and you will realize that YOU are a part of something special. This class is inspiring, challenging and uplifting.  YOU will forever be changed and when you complete this class, you will realize that leadership is not about you but about others and helping them to achieve their goals and dreams.  When you do this…and serve others you will begin to understand what true leadership is about.  Leadership is about doing the right thing when no one is looking and being aware of your actions when others are looking.
It is a lot of work and it takes dedication to complete this class but it is so WORTH IT!  TLI is a life changer and I feel so fortunate to have had this experience.” – Melissa Curtis, Senior HOD Associate, TLI Class IV

  • There are a total of 5 scorers from throughout TSTC statewide. All scorers are members of the TSTC Leadership Institute Advisory Committee and can not provide references for Class V applicants.

  • Applicants will be informed of the scoring process. Scoring process is described in the following bulleted points.

    • Essay questions have a maximum value of 5 points each, for a grand total of 20 points.

    • Reference letters are scored as a whole and have a combined maximum value of 5 points.

    • The maximum score any applicant can receive is 25 points per scorer, or 125 points total.

Selection Process

  • Each Leadership Institute will be limited to 15-20 participants. The goal is to have 3 participants from each college and System Operations, but only the highest scoring applicant from each entity will be guaranteed a slot. The remaining participants will be determined by highest scores.

  • If two or more candidates receive the same score, ties will be broken by the earliest application submission date as recorded in the email appliciation submission.

  • Once candidates are selected by the scorers, the college presidents, the TSTC Leadership Institute Advisory Committee, and the applicant's supervisors will be notified. College presidents will have veto power over candidates' selection and are encouraged to review applicant finalists with their supervisors. The selection process is not complete at this time, and all candidate names will remain confidential.

  • If a president vetoes a candidate, the president will notify the TSTC Leadership Institute facilitator. Application scores will then be revisited for highest remaining scores.

  • Presidents and the TSTC Leadership Institute Advisory Committee will send congratulatory letters to selected candidates.

  • TSTC Leadership Institute Advisory Committee will send letters to all applicants who applied, but were not selected, thanking them for their application and informing them they can apply again for future institutes.
