About HEP and the GED

The GED test covers four subjects: mathematics, reasoning through language arts, science, and social studies. You can choose to take your test in English or Spanish.

We want to help. As part of our HEP program, you have access to tools, free practice test questions, and the official practice test site.

Registration & Retesting

You can schedule one test at a time to make sure you feel prepared every time. Testing is available at our Harlingen and Waco locations. Barriers and strategic protocols ensure student safety.

Register for the GED

Registration is simple. Sign up for MyGED™ and get information about local policies, how to request modified testing conditions (accommodations), and even schedule a test.

Schedule and pay for a test

When you are ready to take the test, complete the scheduling questions. You can choose your test center location, language, subject, and a convenient day and time.

Paying for the test

You will pay for your test when you schedule it. Check fees and state rules here.

While you need to score at least 145 on each subject to pass the GED® test, scoring higher can have additional benefits. Learn more about what higher scores can mean.

If you do not pass a test the first time, do not panic. You can test three times on the same subject without wait time restrictions. After the third attempt, there is a 60 day waiting period before retesting again.
