William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program
Loans made through this program are referred to as Direct Loans.  Eligible students and parents borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education.  These loans include Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct PLUS Loans.  You repay these loans directly to the federal government. Students who qualify for a SUBSIDIZED loan (those who have demonstrated financial need) will have interest expense paid by the government until repayment begins. Students qualifying for an UNSUBSIDIZED loan will have interest expense added to the loan while in school. If the interest expense is not paid while in school, that expense will be carried forward when repayment begins and calculated into the monthly payments.

Loan repayment begins six months after the student graduates, leaves school or drops below half-time enrollment. TSTC West Texas student borrowers are also required to complete loan entrance and exit counseling as described below.

TSTC does not participate in any Private Loan programs or Perkins Loan programs.

Entrance counseling sessions
Students new to TSTC West Texas must complete entrance counseling on line before receiving any loan proceeds:

Exit counseling sessions
Student Loan Borrowers must complete an exit interview whenever dropping below half-time enrollment status, withdrawing, graduating, or leaving school for any reason:
