(ROSENBERG, Texas) – Over 80 companies and 250 students and alumni met in the Industrial Technology Center at Texas State Technical College’s Fort Bend County location for the Spring Industry Job Fair on Thursday, March 28. The energy was palpable as industry partners looked to hire and students looked to apply.

Many of the students were given time away from their classes and studies in order to attend. They were also encouraged to bring resumes and dress nicely in order to make a good first impression.

Amanda Reinhard, a representative from Kyrish Truck Center, finds that job fairs, particularly those at TSTC, are a great way to help them hire people with the proper skills.

“We have an aging workforce, so we are always looking to hire,” Reinhard said. “I don’t know of any employer who isn’t. We’ve had great success coming to job fairs at TSTC.”

While those nearing their final semesters are looking for a job in the immediate future, students who have just begun their program at TSTC are also encouraged to attend and meet people. Judy Cox, a TSTC Career Services coordinator, says the industry representatives have a great memory for those they’ve met at previous job fairs.

In addition to students, alumni from TSTC were also seen visiting the various booths. Dillon Keltner, a recent graduate from the Cybersecurity program, enjoyed his time at the fair.

“This job fair has been a big help for me,” Keltner said. “Applying online didn’t feel like enough, so this has been a good way to connect with employers who are hiring.”

A unique aspect of TSTC is its commitment to helping students not only graduate, but find careers. Cox believes job fairs are one of the best ways to do that.

“We have students come and brag to us about finding jobs from their interactions with employers at job fairs,” Cox said. “I also get excited seeing the circle of students being hired, going to work at a company and then, eventually, coming back to be a representative at the job fair.”

Summer and fall registration for current TSTC students has begun. For new students, registration begins on Monday, April 8. For more information, visit tstc.edu.
