We, the faculty and staff of TSTC, mean this from our hearts – we want you here. To prove that, we’re doing everything possible to pave the way as you work through the admissions process, gain critical information on financing your education – even help with financial aid for members of your family who likely have state and federal benefits nowadays as a result of your service.
At TSTC, we’ve launched a project to make our campuses even more helpful to our military applicants and students. TSTC Harlingen is out in front, having already been designated a “military friendly campus.” Even since that designation, TSTC Harlingen has begun organizing a veterans’ social group to facilitate peer support. Nobody understands a vet but another vet, and we know it.
In addition, Harlingen is smoothing out the enrollment process for veterans and has arranged for regular visits from a resource & referral specialist with our local Texas Veterans Leadership Program. This consultant can help you with a variety of issues that could interfere with your education.
TSTC’s other campuses are developing their veterans programs now. In fact, as a result of Congressman Chet Edwards’ work, TSTC Waco received $100,000 in 2010 from the federal government for its “Career Paths for Veterans Program.”
So, as you work your way through the tasks relating to enrollment, always keep in mind that active duty military and veterans are high on our list. Never hesitate to make known your military status and request any special services that may be available.
