Program Details

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing (ADN) program is a fast-paced transition program for current LVN licensees. Upon successful completion of the 12-month transition program requirements, students will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for registered nurses. In this program, students are offered a variety of hands-on clinical experiences to prepare them for becoming a registered nurse (RN). Once you are an RN you can work in hospitals, day-surgery centers, rehabilitation centers, physicians’ offices, home health care agencies, among other areas.

Requirements to enter the ADN program differ from those of other TSTC programs. so be sure to read the program requirements before applying.
Please note, students applying for the ADN program must already be a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) before applying.

Exam Requirements

The ADN Nursing Program (Harlingen and Sweetwater) requires a score of 850 on the HESI LPN to RN entrance exam. Applicants to the program can schedule at testing time by emailing tstctesting@tstc.edu. Complete program requirements are available in the Informational Downloads section of this page.

A mandatory Information Session is required prior to receiving the information packets and link to the program application. Grades below a “C” for any prerequisite courses are not able to transfer into the nursing program. Science courses can be no older than 10 years.
