A Career With Heart

TSTC can help put your passion to work through our certificate program in Vocational Nursing. This program is designed to help you gain the basic competencies you need to be effective in your field and develop the skills you need to make a difference. At the end of your training, passing the National Council Licensure Examination will classify you as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN).

TSTC offers this 16-month certification in Vocational Nursing to get you on your way to a career in health care. In this program, students participate in innovative hands-on training that develops their caregiving skills. Instruction consists of classroom, simulation learning labs, interactive online sessions, virtual clinicals, and on-site health care clinicals.

Important Information & Requirements

Requirements to enter the Vocational Nursing program differ from those of other TSTC programs, so be sure to read the program requirements before applying. After applying for general acceptance to TSTC via the admissions application, students wishing to apply to the Vocational Nursing program must attend a Mandatory Information Session prior to receiving the link to the Vocational Nursing program application. Exam Requirements

The ATI-TEAS exam is used as part of the admission process for the Vocational Nursing program. This exam is available and should be taken at any of the TSTC Testing Centers. Applicants to this program should schedule a testing time. More information about the exam can be found in the Information Downloads section on this page.

Degree Plans

Students are required to enroll in a First-Year Seminar course, TSTC 1101 College Success, in their first semester attending TSTC unless they have completed more than 24 credit hours. Please see detailed information regarding the course and exemptions in the Catalog and Student Handbook under 07. First Steps at TSTC section 04.
