(WACO, Texas) – Four of Texas State Technical College’s campuses will host hundreds of high school students at SkillsUSA Texas district secondary conferences in February.

The Fort Bend County campus will host District 9 students on Friday, Feb. 6. The campus will have automotive, collision repair, diesel and welding events. The campus is projected to host about 150 Houston-area high school students.

The Harlingen campus will host District 13 students from Thursday, Feb. 12, to Saturday, Feb. 14. More than 1,800 competitors from throughout South Texas will be on campus.

“Hosting an event like SkillsUSA at TSTC provides high school students with a valuable opportunity to sharpen the technical skills they are already developing in the classroom,” said Billy Weaver, an HVAC instructor and SkillsUSA campus coordinator in Harlingen. “It allows the students to experience firsthand what advanced technical training looks like in a real-world setting.”

The Williamson County campus will host District 10 encompassing an area from Bell County to Bexar County from Thursday, Feb. 19, to Saturday, Feb. 21. About 800 students are expected.

The campus will host an array of events, including additive manufacturing, medical math and web design.

“Williamson County is home to a growing technical workforce, and hosting SkillsUSA reinforces TSTC’s commitment to hands-on education and career readiness,” said Bonifacio Velasquez, a Precision Machining instructor and SkillsUSA coordinator at the Williamson County campus. “These contests highlight the skills that local employers need, helping connect students to real-world career pathways right here in Central Texas.”

The Waco campus will host District 10 contests from Thursday, Feb. 19, to Saturday, Feb. 21, and District 5 students from Thursday, Feb. 26, to Saturday, Feb. 28.
