East Williamson County at Waco Fall 2023 Industry Job Fair

(HUTTO, Texas) – More than 20 Texas State Technical College students from the East Williamson County campus attended TSTC’s Fall 2023 Industry Job Fair held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at TSTC’s Waco campus.

Representatives of more than 200 companies were stationed at the campus’s Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center, Industrial Technology Center and Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center. The East Williamson County campus students rode a chartered bus from Hutto for the event.

“Many employers in our (Austin) area come to the Waco job fair, and they look forward to seeing our students here,” said Hunter Henry, a TSTC Career Services coordinator.

Students were eager to meet as many company representatives as possible.

Francisco Flores, of Hutto, is a third-semester Precision Machining Technology student who attended the job event for the second time.

He said students who made the trip to Waco were prepared by the Career Services department on interview skills and how to write a resume.

“There are a lot of opportunities here,” Flores said of the event. “There is a wide variety of employers. It is good for networking, and it is always good to have options available.”

Ryan Hackler, of Pflugerville, is a third-semester Precision Machining Technology student who attended the job event for the first time.

“It’s a lot, and it’s nice to talk to the companies and see what they have and ask questions,” he said.

Hackler said he really liked what he heard from staff representing Banister Medical in Pflugerville and Flowserve Corp. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hackler said TSTC students and alumni should attend the job fair to learn about companies they may not have heard of and get an idea of what direction to go upon graduation.

TSTC plans to have another Industry Job Fair in spring 2024.
