The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, originally known as the Student Right-to-Know & Campus Security Act, is a federal law. It requires colleges and universities to publish an annual report documenting crimes occurring on campus, at off-campus college facilities, in residence halls, and on public property immediately adjacent to the campus. In addition, this report identifies specific policy statements.

Clery Act Information
The Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act became federal law with the passage of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. The law requires colleges and universities that maintain on-campus housing facilities to compile an annual fire safety report that gives students, parents and the public current information about fires in on-campus housing.
Our police department maintains a crime log with summary information about crimes reported to the College police, and also maintains a fire log that records, by date reported, any fire that occurs in an on-campus student housing facility. The crime log and fire log are open for public inspection during normal business hours.
It is our policy to fully comply with the federal mandates of the Clery Act by collecting and furnishing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
Hazing
The Stop Campus Hazing Act, signed into law on December 23, 2024, expands the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act to help prevent hazing and increase transparency on college campuses. Hazing is defined as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act—often tied to joining or participating in a student organization—that puts someone at risk of physical or emotional harm. This includes things like forced alcohol or drug use, sleep deprivation, or physical mistreatment, even if the person agrees to participate.
At TSTC, we’re committed to creating a safe, respectful campus environment for everyone. In support of this law, we will maintain a public Campus Hazing Transparency Report that outlines our policies and lists any student organizations found in violation. Anyone who experiences or witnesses hazing is encouraged to report it by submitting a Hazing Incident Report through Maxient.
