(ROSENBERG, Texas) – It was a packed room on Tuesday, June 10, when Chart Industries came to visit Texas State Technical College for an employer spotlight. Students from the Industrial Systems, Precision Machining Technology and Welding Technology programs at the Fort Bend County campus were eager to learn more about potential job opportunities, for both now and after graduation.

Chart Industries is a provider of technology and services related to liquified gases such as natural gas, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Headquartered in Ball Ground, Georgia, it has a plant in Beasley that focuses exclusively on air-cooled heat exchangers and axial flow fans. It was for this location that Chart was primarily hiring for.

Cameron Clark, production supervisor at the Beasley location, helped describe the company’s work to the TSTC students in attendance.

“You can think of what we work on as a car’s radiator,” Clark said. “Those radiators are just on a much larger scale.”

Clark himself is a graduate of TSTC’s Fort Bend County campus and the Precision Machining program. He graduated in 2018 and began working at Chart Industries as a computer numerical control machine operator before rising through the ranks to his current position. Due to his technical position and experience, he was able to help answer a number of questions related to day-to-day work at the factory.

Elena Macha, senior human resources generalist for Chart Industries, emphasized that the company was hiring specifically for positions that would work for full-time students.

“We have a lot of full-time positions open that work on the weekend,” Macha told attendees. “We know you are busy with school and want you to be able to work and earn for yourself and your family without taking away from that.”

Students were encouraged to ask questions and, assuming any of the open positions sounded like a good fit for them, apply. Employer spotlights like these help TSTC students discover job opportunities, learn more about day-to-day work life, and find what fits them best.

Registration continues for the fall semester at TSTC. For more information, go to tstc.edu.
