East Williamson County Cybersecurity

(HUTTO, Texas) – Texas State Technical College’s Cybersecurity program is coming back this fall to the East Williamson County campus in a hybrid format.

For the first time since spring 2020, students will be able to attend labs in-person on campus and listen to lectures online. Students continue to have the option of taking the program in an all-online format.

“Students will have the option to attend classes that work best for their schedules, lifestyles and learning preferences, whether face-to-face or virtually,” said Lissa Adams, provost of TSTC’s East Williamson County campus. “Our on-campus hybrid classes allow students to work alongside our subject matter expert instructors while utilizing our innovative and industry-relevant technology.”

Program faculty have been arranging their lab on the first floor of the East Williamson County Higher Education Center ahead of the start of the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 29

“Our goal is to place Texans into higher paying jobs, whether they are coming straight out of high school or wanting to enhance skills already in the workplace,” said Stuart McLennan, lead instructor in TSTC’s Cybersecurity program.

TSTC offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Cybersecurity, two certificates of completion in Cybersecurity, an advanced technical certificate in Digital Forensics Specialist, and three occupational skills achievement awards in Advanced Cybersecurity, Inter Cybersecurity and Intro Cybersecurity.

This program is part of TSTCYou, which meets students where they are through a flexible, performance-based education that works with busy schedules.

In the performance-based education model, students work with an enrollment coach to develop a schedule in two-hour time blocks. Lectures, videos, and other learning content is on Canvas, a learning management system. Instructors also do mini-lectures during the day, with tests being demonstration-based, online or written.

Registration continues for the fall semester. For more information, go to tstc.edu
