The TSTC Vocational Nursing program at the campus in Harlingen will host an open house on March 31 for prospective students.

(HARLINGEN, Texas) – The Vocational Nursing certificate of completion program at Texas State Technical College’s Harlingen campus will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 31, at the Lucio Allied Health Technologies Building at the corner of North Loop 499 and Jasmine Street.

Prospective students who are interested in beginning the Vocational Nursing program next fall are encouraged to attend the event.

“The application process will be discussed, including requirements to apply to the program and other important information,” said Heather Sauceda, TSTC’s Vocational Nursing program director in Harlingen.

Anna San Pedro, associate provost for TSTC’s Harlingen campus, said earning a Vocational Nursing certificate of completion can be a step toward becoming a registered nurse.

“Vocational nursing is a great place for students who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing,” she said. “Prospective students should be aware that the Vocational Nursing program at TSTC is a transition program to the Associate Degree in Nursing program. While in the Vocational Nursing program, students will develop a solid foundation of the knowledge and skills to prepare for the National Council Licensure Examination.”

TSTC offers a Vocational Nursing certificate of completion at its Breckenridge, Harlingen and Sweetwater campuses. An Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing is offered at its Harlingen and Sweetwater campuses.
