(ROSENBERG, Texas) – Six Texas State Technical College students from the Fort Bend County campus were honored recently for completing the 16-week Tesla START electric vehicle service training program.
The ceremony marked the completion of collaboration between TSTC and Tesla designed to equip students with the specialized skills necessary for a successful career with the company.

“These students respected the team culture and remained committed to their professional growth,” said Michael Jay, one of the instructors in the program. “It was rewarding to see these graduates work hard to receive their certificate of completion to become successful service technicians.”
Six students have secured service technician positions at Tesla service centers throughout Texas, while a seventh student was hired for a different role within the company.
Class valedictorian Rodrigo Mejia shared words of support with his fellow graduates.
“I have seen how hard each of you have worked,” he said. “You will do great in your careers. When you find yourself in a tough spot, you are going to feel overwhelmed. Just remember ‘pressure makes diamonds,’ and will make great possibilities happen in your future.”

Damian Calliste, manager of START service at Tesla, said the partnership with TSTC has been instrumental in helping Tesla meet the surging demand for skilled electric vehicle technicians.
“The START program is focused on building foundational skills and boosting technician confidence through our paid internships,” he said. “This relationship provides a state-of-the-art training facility designed to mirror the setup of our actual service centers, enabling aspiring technicians to engage in realistic, hands-on simulations of real-world service scenarios.”
Registration for the summer and fall semesters at TSTC starts Monday, March 30. For more information about TSTC, visit TSTC.edu.
