(ROSENBERG, Texas) – Four students from Texas State Technical College’s Fort Bend County campus won gold medals at the recent 2026 SkillsUSA Texas Postsecondary Leadership and Skills Conference in Corpus Christi.
The medalists were:
– Mechatronics – Muhammad Yasin Adbelwahab, of Richmond, and Farid Amirbakhsh, of Rosenberg.
– Robotics and Automation Technology – Eduardo Gonzalez, of Rosenberg, and Dominic Limone, of Richmond.
The students secured a spot at the national SkillsUSA competition, scheduled for June 1-5 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Adbelwahab said competing at SkillsUSA was a rewarding experience for him and his teammate, Amirbakhsh.
“We felt confident because we practiced a little bit of everything,” he said. “That flexibility in how we approached it helped us win a gold medal. It was a team effort.”
Limone said the victory fueled his and his teammate’s excitement as they prepare for the national competition.
“We are nervous, but excited because we are curious which robot we are going to use next,” he said. “We are still in shock that we won a gold medal.”
In addition, two other students from the Fort Bend County campus earned bronze medals.
