(MARSHALL, Texas) – Enrollment at Texas State Technical College’s Marshall campus continues to rise each year. With more than 600 students expected at the start of this fall semester, the campus hired several new instructors throughout the summer semester.
Todd Holloway, a new Building Construction instructor, brings 35 years of experience to TSTC. As the first instructor hired for the program’s launch at the Marshall campus, he has played a key role in helping the TSTC staff prepare the new lab.
“Basically we’re building the program together,” Holloway said, referring to himself, the TSTC staff and his future students. “I’m going to be learning from them, and they’re going to be learning from me.”
Throughout Jason Martin’s 30-year career, he has progressed from being an electrical lineworker to a design technician. He was hired as an Electrical Lineworker and Management instructor at TSTC’s Marshall campus during the summer, when he taught second- and third-semester students.
“In the fall I will have all first-semester students, so it will be my first time getting them from ground zero and working with them through their entire course here at the college to get to where they want to be,” Martin said.
Melissa York, one of two new Process Operations instructors, worked for chemical and polymer producer Eastman Chemical Co. for 13 years before applying to TSTC to teach. She said new things are coming to the program that she is excited to introduce to her students.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing new faces and continuing on with the students that we had this year,” York said. “We made a lot of relationships within the first semester, and they’re a really fun group. I’m really looking forward to seeing everybody and spreading my knowledge.”
