(HARLINGEN, Texas) – With a strong sense of Texas pride in the air, more than 340 Texas State Technical College graduates walked the stage at the Harlingen Convention Center on Friday, Aug. 22, to receive certificates of completion or associate degrees at TSTC’s Summer 2025 Commencement.
Jiancarlo Gonzales, of Harlingen, graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aircraft Airframe.
“The aviation education I received was thorough, especially because I took the time to research and understand different types of airplanes,” he said. “That meticulous effort showed me I have what it takes to become a skilled aircraft technician.”
Starla Mendoza, of Harlingen, graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Cybersecurity. She said she already has a job lined up at a national accounting firm and her participation in some competitions helped her to get hired.
“Competing in the National Cyber League and SkillsUSA gave me the skills that employers in the cybersecurity field find valuable,” she said.
Krystal Galvan, of Harlingen, graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing.
“I felt a deep sense of satisfaction transitioning from the Vocational Nursing program into the LVN to RN Transition Nursing program at TSTC,” she said. “The training I received gave me confidence and prepared me to provide patient care as a registered nurse.”
Gina Cano-Monreal, provost at TSTC’s Harlingen campus, praised the graduates for their perseverance.
“We are proud of the hard work and dedication our graduates have shown during their time at the college,” Monreal said. “We’re grateful they chose our college to gain the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience that will make them valuable contributors to the strong Texas workforce.”
